Or something along those lines, that's what one of the gold-medalling women on the US Beach Volleyball team said immediately after the match.
Live.
On the 'beach'.
As in, Yay, gold medal! And now that we've won it, our next goal is to go make babies!
Then, later on, during the interview with Bob Costas, she repeated how much they both wanted to start families.
I'm not sure what bothers me - I'm not sure I'm bothered? Maybe I'm just struck/shocked/surprised/curious that this would be a topic mentioned after someone won a gold medal at the freakin' Olympics. Now, to be fair, the interviewer did ask what the women (ha, almost wrote 'girls') were going to do next, but havin' babies? Really?
Am I mad, here, or did anyone else think this was...unusual?
Oro out
PS: Things I would like to stop doing today = EATING.
I think that is what people expect a woman to say. It kinda pisses me off. It's like when that kick ass woman swimmer said that the most important job she has ever done was be a mother. She is an olympic medal athlete! Being a mother is special and precious, but do you know what I mean? I think the media expects us to feel a certain way b/c of our effing repro organs.
I have not been by as often as I should lately. Good to see you doing OK lately.

Yeah, after she sprinkled her mom's ashes on the court. Again.
I kind of always wince inwardly when someone announces her intention of trying to conceive so publicly. Part of me thinks "Good luck!" and part of me thinks "God, you are so naive."

That bothered me too. I saw a few reports from the Olympics mentioning female athletes' intentions to go home and "get busy." I've always bristled at public ttc announcements from anyone. I just have always thought, WHYYYY????
